New Shipping Rates on Printed Tickets

Post Office

We’ve done a quick renovation of the shipping rates on our printed tickets. We made the changes in response to new rates issued by the U.S. Postal Service, but we’ve also adjusted the breakdown of how ticket orders get shipped out – and this will result in serious savings for a great deal of orders.

CASE STUDY: Swarm Mobile & the Southern NM State Fair & Rodeo

In the fall of 2012, the Southern New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo implemented HoldMyTicket’s “Mobile Box Office” solution SWARM to accept credit cards and log cash sales at its main gate to the north of the fairgrounds. The five-day yearly event takes place in Las Cruces, NM and attracts thousands of people from the surrounding areas of southern New Mexico and western Texas. Each year, the Fair employs over 50 volunteers from the Mayfield High School Band working in 4-hour shifts to staff their box office. You can imagine what an accounting nightmare it can be to manage this many employees, with their respective cash drawers, allotted tickets, and other potential sources of confusion. We developed a procedure for their volunteer check-in, where, after signing in, they would receive a 4-digit PIN from a spreadsheet. Through SWARM, this PIN was attached to every sale they made at the gate. This allowed the box office manager to print a report at the end of each shift and reconcile the tickets and cash bag for each volunteer. At the peak of the event, we monitored 12 tellers, all of them selling concurrently over a single cellular network. Moreover, this network was a very spotty Verizon 3G network with speeds registering at 0.05 – 1.00 megabytes per second.

In years past, the Fair did all its accounting by hand, and it staff spent weeks counting ticket stubs and comparing those totals with the cash bags. In most cases, discrepancies with cash drawers were not registered until long after the event was over. Digitizing the box office using HMT’s system allowed the Fair organizers to monitor all ticket sales in real-time, giving them constant awareness of exactly how many people had checked in and how much revenue had been generated at any given moment.

Albuquerque’s HoldMyTicket is becoming a growing player in the local ticketing world and beyond.

At last weekend’s mixed martial arts bout at Tingley Coliseum, Jackson’s MMA general manager Ricky Kottenstette tried the HoldMyTicket system to sell about 6,000 tickets.

“It worked great,” Kottenstette said. “It’s the future of ticketing.”
